Designing Together: How We Work as Two

At Making of the Season, much of what we create begins in conversation. Having grown up in a creative, hands-on environment, making, sharing, and thinking through materials has always felt natural to us. Today, that same way of working continues in the studio, where ideas are shaped through dialogue, intuition, and a shared sensitivity to objects, atmosphere, and detail

A Shared Rhythm

Working closely together means many things no longer need explaining. Much of our collaboration feels intuitive; ideas are often understood before they are fully spoken. Over time, this way of working has developed into its own rhythm: one built on trust, attentiveness, and the freedom to move naturally between exchange and individual reflection. Sometimes the smallest glance is enough. Sometimes a conversation is all it takes for something new to begin.

How Ideas Take Shape

As with every season, some ideas begin with a feeling. Others with a color, a memory, a material, or something easily overlooked that suddenly asks for attention. Inspiration can come from anywhere. We collect what moves us, explore it together, and gradually build from there. Thinking and making often happens simultaneously; through conversation, sketches, references, and quiet moments in between. Our mornings in the studio often begin with music. There is conversation, but also space — to think, to test, and to let ideas develop at their own pace.

Growing Through Making

Designing together is not simply about collaboration. It is an ongoing process of learning from one another, refining our perspective, and building something meaningful over time. We hope that this sense of connection can be felt in what we create. That the objects we make carry not only care and intention, but also a certain warmth — something that quietly brings more beauty, attentiveness, and presence into everyday life.
